Do you have gluten free and sugar free menu items?

Fortify’s menu offers an inspiring and joyful philosophy on plant- based, whole foods, featuring in house made salad dressing, sauces, raw snacks and fresh, whole ingredients for smoothies, bowls, soups and salads. This level of control over our menu allows us to avoid the use of sugars and gluten. We use agave, maple syrup and local honey to sweeten our snacks and functional drinks and use local Hildegard sourdough bread for the Toasts and Falafel Sandwich.

Do you offer plant based menu items?

In our healthy eatery our goal is to nourish and inspire you with a selection of quality, plant-based, whole foods and drinks. The Fortify Foods menu is 98% plant based with only two exceptions, Bones + Marrow Bone Broth and the option to have your latte made with dairy versus a plant based alternative.

Do you offer catering and large takeaway orders?

We can accommodate large takeaway orders for pick up with a minimum of 2 hours notice. Simply call Fortify Foods at 204-231-5333 ext. 2 to place your order off of the Foods Menu. For catering inquiries please email hello@thisisfortify.com and Jared, our Director of Operations for Foods, will reply with a request for some further detail on how you envisioned nourishing your group.

People have always built community around food, and we hope to make you a part of our community.

What are your practices in reducing plastic waste?

Our takeaway wear is all compostable or recyclable, we encourage eating in at one of our four cozy and sunbathed tables and we offer a 50 cent discount when a guest brings in their own mug and a 75 cent discount for bringing in your own takeaway container.

Do you use organic ingredients?

In keeping in alignment with our food philosophy, Fortify is committed to having an abundance of fresh, whole foods for it’s menu items. Raw organic nuts, local microgreens, organic seeds and flax and sustainable milk alternatives, our menu is full of organic and local goodness but not all of our produce is organic all year long. This list may change throughout the seasons, but please do ask a Fortify Foods team member if this is something you would like to know more about.

Do you support locally grown and produced items on your menu?

Fortify has hand selected some amazing local businesses to be featured on our menu from Flatlanders Coffee Roasters, Hildegard’s Bakery, Fresh Forage, Bones and Marrow Broth Co., Bee Project Apiaries and Cooks Creek Kimchi.

How can I have an inside look and experience Fortify Wellness before I book an Initial appointment?

Fortify Wellness is open Tuesday through Saturday, hours vary based on the Practitioner schedules, and we would be delighted to give you a tour of our space and go over how our team of care providers can empower you to take back control of your health. We have a team of experts dedicated to you and your health journey and each one of them offers a free, 15 minute, Meet and Greet to discover if they would make for a sturdy expert in walking alongside you on your wellness path.

How does your Appointment booking system work and how long should I give myself to fill out my intake form?

We use Jane Management Booking Systems, a safe and secure Canadian based company, for online bookings. Simply set up your profile and login details and you are ready to book with Fortify online.

You can also have one of our Wellness assistants create a profile for you at the Wellness desk and book you in for your initial appointment. The time it takes to fill out your intake form depends on your health concerns requiring communication and which Practitioner you will be seeing, but on average the intake forms take 15 to 45 minutes to complete.

What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

You can either call Fortify Wellness at 204-231-5333 ext. 1 or adjust your appointment online through our Jane Booking System up to 72 hours in advance of your appointment date. Please note that cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment are subject to a cancellation fee. Life happens, so if something in regards to an emergency comes up within the 48 hour range, please call us at Fortify Wellness to take the necessary steps in cancellation.

Will my Naturopathic Doctor be able to order lab work, specialty tests, request past files and review past testing prior to or after my Initial Assessment?

Prior to your Initial Assessment you will be requested to bring the names and dosages of current medications and natural health products (only required if you hadn’t listed them on your online intake form) and relevant blood work, diagnostic imaging or specialist reports. If you are unable to bring these reports with you to your first appointment, an authorized Release of Records can be sent on your behalf to obtain them, and if further lab work is required that will be discussed within the first appointment.

Our goal at Fortify is to work together to create comprehensive care plans across providers ensuring communication with your family physician and any other healthcare providers is open and congruent.

How is payment for appointments handled? Does Fortify direct bill?

Payment for appointments are taken after your visit, before you leave our Fortify Wellness space. If you wish for a speedy exit, without having to stop at the desk to book further appointments, you can request to have your credit card information securely kept in your Wellness Jane Profile.

Fortify does not direct bill but offers your receipt after your payment is processed in printed and/or emailed form for a quick and timely submission to your Benefit provider once you get home. We recommend looking up your Benefit information, or calling your provider to understand your Natural Health coverage budget for the fiscal year.

After my initial appointment with your Naturopathic Dr. how do I refill my prescription supplements?

After your initial appointment, your personal chart will be filled out and emailed to you, so you always have the information on hand for how your supplement plan will work best for your body and mind. Your file in the Fortify Wellness system will also have your supplement plan indicating refill amounts, so you can simply come in to Fortify Wellness and pick up your supplements during open hours.

Can Fortify Wellness’ Naturopathic Doctor be my primary care physician?

Naturopathic Medicine uses a number of modalities, including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine and acupuncture to build individualized, comprehensive care for patients. Our Naturopathic Dr. is trained in primary care specialties like family medicine and internal medicine, however we recommend our guests maintain a primary care physician for things like vaccinations and strep or flu testing, which we do not perform.

Your Naturopathic Dr. will remind you of important age-related screenings you should get like colonoscopies or mammograms.

In the unforeseeable event you have a medical emergency, we recommend that you visit urgent care at your local hospital.

How do you choose what is featured in Shop and how are they quality tested?

We are committed to sourcing only clean and effective products for you and your family. Fortify Shop’s shelves are filled with intentional product lines that are committed to sustainability, cruelty free practices, ingredients pulled from the earth and a quality supported by science.

All products have been quality tested by the Fortify Co-Founders, Katrina and Stephanie as well as the Shop team members to ensure you experience a first hand education with a dose of excited encouragement.

In regards to your non-toxic skin care, hair care and makeup lines, how can I get a personalized experience in choosing the right products for me?

Shop team members are dedicated to learning about your routine with skin, hair and makeup lines and your health history with these items. How your body typically reacts to products will determine which items will be best suited for you and your wellness goals.

What sustainable, eco-conscious products do you offer for an intentional shopper?

You shouldn’t have to go out of your way to find effective products which benefit your family and the earth. We are constantly evolving and adding items to our Fortify Shop shelves but to name a few favourites we feature Brush Naked toothbrushes, Crush Brush toothpaste tablets, Floss Pot dental floss, Loop soap bars, Cheeks Ahoy cloths and rounds, Stasher bags, Stojo cups, Well Kept safety razors, Diva Cups and LunaPad reusable pads.

How do you choose which supplements to carry in Fortify Shop?

All supplements in Fortify Shop have been researched and approved collaboratively by the Fortify Co-Founders Katrina and Stephanie along with our Naturopathic Doctors. A selection of our supplements have universal benefits for most health levels but your Primary Care Physician should be consulted if planning to combine with other medications.

Are there local products available in Fortify Shop?

Fortify Shop aims to supply our community with sustainable, local and effective goods. The product lines we carry are primarily made in Canada, featuring some local companies like Innotech Nutrition natural health products made right here in Winnipeg. The product lines we carry evolve as the demand changes seasonally, always keeping our mission to the community at heart.
