Acupuncture treatments work in 3 ways. Firstly, they relax the body which in turn helps the body begin to heal itself. Secondly, they facilitate the movement of energy (or qi) through our body to regulate and improve the body processes, and lastly, they encourage the release of endorphins which then reduce pain.
Unlike modern medicine which often focuses on external intervention such as drugs to alleviate symptoms, acupuncture prompts and/or reminds the body of what it already knows how to do.
One treatment at a time, acupuncture addresses the underlying energetic imbalances which cause our symptoms.

From the moment you walk through our door you are our number one priority. You will be given an experience and a level of care that will far surpass their expectations.
Absolutely! All of our practitioners offer complimentary Meet and Greet appointments. These appointments are complimentary 10-minute appointments that can be done virtually or in person to inquire about a service or to determine if a practitioner is right for you!
If you don’t know where to start, who to book with, or would like more information about Fortify, book a Discovery Call with one of our Wellness Assistants and we would be happy to help!
We use Jane Management Booking Systems, a safe and secure Canadian-based company, for bookings. Simply set up your profile and login details and you are ready to book with Fortify online. You can also have one of our Wellness assistants create a profile for you at the Wellness desk and book you in for your initial appointment.
The time it takes to fill out your intake form depends on your health concerns requiring communication and which Practitioner you will be seeing, but on average the intake forms take 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
For in-person appointments, payment is taken after your visit, before you leave our Fortify Wellness space. If you wish for a speedy exit, without having to stop at the desk, you can request to have your credit card information securely kept in your patient profile. For a Telehealth appointment, you will need a valid credit card uploaded onto your Jane patient profile so payment can be processed after your appointment.
Fortify does not direct bill but offers your receipt after your payment is processed in printed and/or emailed form for a quick and timely submission to your benefits provider once you get home. We recommend looking up your benefits information or calling your provider to understand your natural health coverage budget for the fiscal year.
You can either call Fortify Wellness at 204-231-5333 ext. 1 or email wellness@thisisfortify.com to speak to one of our Wellness Assistants and have them help you adjust your upcoming appointment.
Please note that cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment are subject to a cancellation fee. Life happens, so if something in regards to an emergency comes up within the 48-hour range, please call us at Fortify Wellness to take the necessary steps in cancellation.
Prior to your Initial Assessment, you will be requested to bring the names and dosages of current medications and natural health products (only required if you hadn’t listed them on your online intake form) and relevant blood work, diagnostic imaging, or specialist reports. If you are unable to bring these reports with you to your first appointment, an authorized Release of Records can be sent on your behalf to obtain them, and if further lab work is required that will be discussed within the first appointment.
Our goal at Fortify is to work together to create comprehensive care plans across providers ensuring communication with your family physician and any other healthcare providers is open and congruent.
After your initial appointment, your treatment plan will be completed and emailed to you within 48 hours. Your treatment plan will include supplement dosing and brand information for you to reference. If a refill of a supplement is needed, you can simply come in to Fortify Shop and pick up your supplements during open hours. Please tell our shop associate your name and the name of your Doctor and we would be happy to help you!
Naturopathic Medicine uses a number of modalities, including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine and acupuncture to build individualized, comprehensive care for patients. Our Naturopathic Doctors are trained in primary care specialties like family medicine and internal medicine, however, we recommend our guests maintain a primary care physician for things like vaccinations and strep or flu testing, as these are procedures we do not perform.
Your Naturopathic Doctor will remind you of important age-related screenings you should get like colonoscopies or mammograms.
In the unforeseeable event, you have a medical emergency, we recommend that you visit urgent care at your local hospital.
This is 100% up to you, and your comfort level. Our Registered Massage Therapists are trained professionals that are able to modify their treatment based on your comfort level and health goals. We encourage good communication between practitioners and patients and would be happy to help you navigate this conversation in the room, or give the practitioner a heads up on your behalf.
They absolutely can! With your consent, the Fortify Wellness practitioners can take a collaborative approach to your care. This can be incredibly helpful in many situations and really streamline the process for a lot of patients.
